Circa 2010 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=447606&fbid=140869755927627&id=140861209261815 When you ride a bike, you develop a certain appreciation for human powered outcomes. You also develop an appreciation for nifty items that can make your journey more comfortable, safe or stylish. Knowing this, Bikefest spoke to their good friends at Craft Victoria, (who are in business of to...

Image: Taken from the Bikefest Better By Bike application form Bikefest are thinking of ways to blur the edges of bike culture. And to do this, they need you. If you have an idea for an art, design, youth, community, schools, music, health, social justice, performance, writing, reading, algebra or ANY KIND OF PROJECT REALLY involving bikes - get in touch. They are developing their program for 2011 and 2012 right now, and will happily consider any ideas for content. Contact Pip with a short of...

Image: Taken from the Once Bitten website Bikefest is working with the City of Melbourne to create three short clips that respond to issues around road harmony. This year, they have devised a vampire theme to tell the story - and they NEED YOU. If you have ever fancied yourself as 'good looking, intense and mysterious' and you ride a bike, then now is your time to shine. Filming will take place in September and the casting call is next weekend! To find out more and make your application visit...

We love Lucas Brunelle's film title 'Line of Sight' and what it represents for the fixy world. In the trailer, one of the riders describes the Line of Sight as 'a place in between cars, in between trucks and buses...taking a certain line through a curve or corner that people don't realise is there....we use those spaces, those openings, those opportunities, those blind spots and that's the area that we exist in. That's the space that we exist in, and where we race'. What a nice way of how we I...

This is the second trailer I have seen and it just gets better! It's about time Mat Hoffman's story was told and now it has been done by just the right people. Directed by longtime friend Jeff Tremaine and produced by Priya Swaminathan, Spike Jonze, and Mark Lewman, the film pays tribute to this BMX legend. It includes interviews with supporters and fans, like Evel Knievel. This film shows us the sacrifice it takes to be one of the greatest athletes in the world. For more information check out...

Image: Courtesy of Mutts Nutts Racing, England. Circa 2010 Our first thought when we saw Mutt Nutts Racing's new ride yesterday was "wow, there has been some serious thought go into this puppy!" The MNR II is one very neat machine. Apart from the obvious attention to detail, the MNR II combines a sweet set of components, super tucked bar position, elegant stearing dampner solution, custom aero tail piece and a super tucked rider position. We haven't seen any footage of the bike in action, nor a...

Image: Courtesy of The Fix Fix Fix Have you ever been told by your ex girlfriend that she's just got engaged to her new man and they're about to have a baby?! Well I have. Yesterday. So while I am happy for her and her new family, I thought what better way to keep my mind focussed all things bikes, than to celebrate the finer things in life. Oh, yeah it just happens to be hump day as well. So, Cyn meet GBHQ, GBHQ meet Cyn!
